The third free practice session proved for Bradl as productive and therefore positive.
Stefan has been improved by 0.8 seconds compared to yesterday and was faster over the distance on used tires by a few tenths.
The work focused first on the big 340mm brake discs with new coverings have more friction surface, but this worked not presented Stefan firmly because he therefore got pain in his right forearm.
Also they have changed the setup, with other more open steeringankle and a longer wheelbase. This modification had a positive effect, Stefan got by a good braking stability and better accuracy. At the end of the session, Bradl could not improve as the rearsuspension strut anything broke. Nevertheless, it was enough again to the 15th position.
In the fourth free practice so far everything went according to plan, the team was able to continue working on the race set-up and here Stefan stood after the session on 15th.
The first Qualy where Stefan had to play, was very positive for number 6. In the first stint, Stefan placed in fifth position to the second run of his previous personal best again 4/10 better. Thus Stefan took the lead briefly in the time table. Of course it was to be expected that the other riders like Vinales, Redding, Smith or Petrucci attack on their factory bikes again. But Stefan’s time was so strong that at first only Vinales and Smith stood before Stefan, but at the last second grabbed even Petrucci Bradl one position away. Nevertheless Stefan is starting tomorrow from 14th place, after the disaster of Australia a beautiful ray of hope.
The pole position in Q2 picked up with a fabulous time of 1.59.1 Dani Pedrosa. Dani undercutting the qualifying record your existing information by almost 8/10 seconds. Second was Marc Marquez, the WM revals Rossi and Lorenzo followed on three and four.
The weather conditions for the race should remain dry.
We wish you an exciting and entertaining race!
It continues at the last oversearace this season to the nice track of Sepang 40 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur is located under a cloud of smog which propagates up to the race track, briefly stood even shorten the race distance for discussion. But over the last few days the smog was so small and everything was as planned and today’s training could take place without restrictions.
Bradl has checked off the disappointing weekend of Phillip Iceland and made at todays morning a good job and was recorded after the first session on the 13th Place.
He had again a good feeling for the soft or hard tires. This feeling was complete missing in Australia.
However, Stefan said that the hard tire would be a little more difficult to use in Sepang, but after two runs, he also became feeling to their characteristics.
With used tires he was only two-three tenths slower than with new slicks. At the end, he went out again with soft tires and could be improved to provide a second. Of the fastest of FP1 Dani Pedrosa Stefan lost 1.9 seconds. A importend thing is in Sepang the top speed, on both long straights behind the maintribune and the start/finish line is obvious that the Aprilia is missing on the fastest Ducati up to 15km / h. Therefore, a few tenths remain lost there.
In the afternoon more setup was at work, Stefan made up where he left off in the morning. He cavorted the whole 45 minutes to place 15 around pull up to 13th place at two minutes before the end of the session.
By this time he was able to improve by two-tenths of what was good in the combined timesheets for the 15th place. Stefan lost by the fastest Lorenzo again just 1.9 seconds. A solid performance which gives us hope for tomorrow’s qualifying.
However, for this is a high probability of rain tomorrow. Sunday should still remain dry. The temparatures are 35 degrees in air and 46 degrees asphalt.
Rain would be in the tropical climes of Asia the actuel monsoon season as no great surprise.
The race day began as usual, with the obligatory Warmup under nearly ideal sunny but cool conditions at 15 ° air temperature and 17 ° asphalt.
Nevertheless, the team managed to significantly improve the setups compared to yesterday, the electronics it was gentle set with the aim to allow the engine to smooth responsive and to make the peak power also softer.
About the distance this modification should save the tyre conditions and could stop the “spinning” when opening the throttle.
Stefan started well, he made four positions well and stay the first laps on 17th position. He knew that he must ride carefully in order to have a chance for a better placement in the race. Unfortunately, it went for Bradl not forward, but backward.
Bradl was trying to win time on corner entry but that to much for the front tyre, Stefan cant push in the end of the race. Added to this was the usual problem with the lack of grip on the rear tyre.
Beaten from Mike di Meglio on his speedy Ducati on place 21 by one of a tenth was the worst race for Bradl since he rides Aprilia, the cool temperatures still working not for his Aprilia. At the next race in Sepang but it should be a little warmer, we are hoping for a better performance.
However, there is always the possibility of a wet race. These conditions were still better than cool temperatures like here on Phillip Island.
