Philipp Öttl missed the podium by half a second

After the sensational pole position at the Grand Prix of USA in Austin / Texas, there was much new for Philipp Öttl. He was invited to the press conference of the quickest in all classes and could answer questions alongside Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo. When warm-up on Sunday morning he confirmed with his fifth exercise performance again. To stand in the front row at a World Championsship run, was a new experience for the youngest German World Championsship participant. Surprisingly cool he put everything away and turned to second place in the first corner of the race. The first three submitted a fast pace and sat upon some of the pursuers. Carrying on third place in the 19 year old had soon moved out a two-second lead. However, he lost as much time on the two leaders. The podium was within reach in the final laps, but the KTM rider had increasingly struggling with a declining rear tire. He was overtaken on the last lap of the slipstream and could start no counterattack. With half a second slower than he came fourth excellent finish. The four fastest race lap also showed how aggressive Philipp at this weekend was. With this success, Philip pushed in the World Championsship standings to seventh forward. After three overseas it now goes back to Europe. On April 24, will take place in Jerez de la Frontera of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Philipp Öttl:

“I was very satisfied with the weekend. We were in all circumstances with the front runners. My first pole was of course the highlight. But even with the race I was very pleased. Too bad that I could not save the podium finish at the end. But if the rear grip is no longer sufficient to be a chance. We will diligently continue to work so that we can connect in Jerez at this performance in two weeks. But before I look forward to a week at home. “

RED BULL GRAND PRIX OF THE AMERICAS/MotoGP Bradl

Again succeeded Stefan Bradl satisfactory Grand Prix weekend with many points in the bag!

The third GP of the season show what potential the brand new Aprilia get! The team and Bradl do good work and to find new solutions to make faster the bike.
Stefan was in the free practice sessions usually number 14, often only a few hundredths away from the Top 10th. This may look not bad.
Unfortunately, the top speed RS-GP16 is its not.
Only the Ducati of Loris Baz was slower than Stefan’s Aprilia in the race. The worse Topspeed costs on the long back straight at the Circuit of the  Americans per round  4-5 / 10 of a  second. This despite Stefan starts with the 20 hp stronger of his two RS-GP16 in the race.
Top speed is now not everything, but in the prevailing level in MotoGP help a few more horsepower but. They facilitate the driver’s work in the race a little.
Much more important, however, is the rideability of the bike, the balance, braking stability and good power delivery. In these areas, the Aprilia is a good bike, says Stefan. Nevertheless, there are for Mugello an engine update with more power.

So Bradl went from 16th place in the race, unfortunately failed the start as in Argentina. He noticed again the rpms fall down to the basement, so must Stefan touch the clutch again. He lost a few positions, but he catch this lost places  immediately again.

Then tried Stefan Barbera and Pirro catch up, but their Ducatis were on the straights too fast, it would have ruined the tires early. On the brake Bradl won again at the ground of the two, but it was not enough. Bradl found behind the two Ducatis that his Aprilia has better handling.
Wisely, he decided to go to a clever race and take safe points. His team-mate Bautista was more than 5 seconds behind him, Stefan defeated Alvaro once again.
The end result was a  famous 10th place in the list of results, not least some falls came before him. Nevertheless also first ride despite you have a race to the end.

We are pleased with the current 14th place in the Championsship standings.

In 14 days it is in Spain continued, the European season will take place in Jerez de la Frontera / Andalusia.

Gran Premio Motul de la República Argentina/Moto3 Öttl

Difficult race for Philipp Öttl in Argentina

For the third time in a row the Grand Prix of Argentina was held in Termas de Rio Hondo. The track is 1100 km north-east of Buenos Aires on the edge of the Andes and is the most modern race track in Latin America. On training days temperatures of almost 40 degrees and the asphalt was heated more than 50 degrees. The track offered less grip than in the previous two years and demanded the riders a lot of feeling in the border area.
Philipp Öttl from Schedl GP Racing Team came very well with the requirements. In the free practice sessions he showed places 13, 9 and 5. Especially in the third training he shone with consistently fast laps. So 13th was in qualifying slightly below expectations. Early in the morning of the race day there was rain and the warm up wet conditions prevailed. Among the unusual circumstances Philipp led the timesheets until shortly before the end of training, when he crashed while braking for. Luckily he was unhurt and his team could make the KTM to race ready. Almost all riders decided at the launch site for dry tires, although there was only a narrow dry track. Philipp started the race not well and ended the first round only on the 21th Place. The distances were already after a few laps very large and overtaking next to the dry racing line was difficult. The 19 year old was still struggling to rank 15 forward and secured the last World Cup point.

Philipp Öttl:
“With the result, I am not satisfied. It took me too long to come up with good lap times. The high track temperatures could ride very fast in the wet with the dry tires. The I underestimated and was too cautious. From mid-race I was satisfied, but because the distance was too big forwards. At least I could still advance in 15th place in the final round. Next week in Austin, I want to make it better. “
